Oldest Travel Agency in Mysore

Every year around the last week of September, our phones start ringing with the same problem. A family has finally decided to see Mysore Dasara, the dates are barely two weeks away, and every decent cab in the city is already booked for the illumination hours. By the time they call us, the Tempo Traveller they wanted is gone and the only sedan left is charging almost double.

That is exactly what a good Mysore Dasara package is supposed to prevent. Mysore Dasara 2026 runs from 11 October to 21 October, with the Jamboo Savari procession and Vijayadashami celebrations falling on the final day. If you are building your Mysore Dasara package from Mysore itself, or flying in from another city and need everything arranged after you land, the sooner you lock your cab and sightseeing plan, the better your rates and your choice of vehicle.

Mysore Travelo has been running local sightseeing and outstation trips out of Saraswathipuram for 15 years, and Dasara week is the one time of year we tell every caller the same thing honestly: book early, because we run out of cars before we run out of demand.

Jamboo Savari & Palace Illumination: What Families Should Know

Jamboo Savari Elephant Procession Mysore

The procession route runs about 5 kilometres from the Palace to Bannimantap, and the crowd builds up hours before the elephants actually move. If you are travelling with children or elderly parents, we usually recommend reaching the viewing area by early afternoon rather than trying to arrive closer to the procession start, since parking and walking access get harder as the day goes on.

For the Palace illumination, weekday evenings are noticeably calmer than weekends. If your dates are flexible, an early-week visit gets you the same lit-up Palace with a fraction of the crowd, and your driver can actually park closer instead of dropping you a kilometre away.

A family booking is different from a solo or business trip mainly in pace, not distance. We build in longer breaks between sightseeing points, avoid back-to-back stops with a lot of stair climbing, and our drivers are used to adjusting the day if a child needs a food break or a nap in the car. Mention senior citizens in your group while booking, and we will route the day around the busiest walking stretches near the Palace grounds.

How to Book Your Mysore Dasara Package

  • Send your travel dates & group size
  • Get a clear per-km cost, not a vague lump sum
  • Pay after the trip, not before booking
  • Itinerary adjusted through the day for Dasara crowds

Mysore Dasara Tour Package: Day-Wise Plan

What we cover across the 3 Days 2 Nights Dasara Plus package:

  • Day 1: Palace, Gardens & Illumination

Pickup from your hotel, visit Mysore Palace, Brindavan Gardens and Mysore Zoo. Return in the evening for the Palace illumination, lit from 7 PM to 9 PM.

  • Day 2: Chamundi Hill & Jamboo Savari Viewing

Morning visit to Chamundi Hill and a slower walk through the local silk and handicraft markets. If your dates fall on or near 21 October, this day is built around the Jamboo Savari viewing slot.

  • Day 3: Srirangapatna Extension or Departure

A half-day trip to Srirangapatna for those extending the trip, or a relaxed drop-back to your hotel, railway station or airport for those heading home.

Our Cab Services for Mysore Dasara Package

We do not quote a flat "package price" without telling you what is driving the cost. Here is the same fleet and per-kilometre pricing we use for every tour on this site. Most family bookings of 3 to 5 people are happier in the Innova Crysta than the sedan, since Palace grounds involve a fair amount of walking.

FAQs for Mysore Dasara Package:

Mysore Dasara 2026 is scheduled from 11 October to 21 October, with Vijayadashami and the Jamboo Savari procession on 21 October. These dates are set by the Karnataka government's Dasara committee each year, so it is worth a quick check closer to your travel date in case of any official update.

Yes. A lot of our Dasara bookings come from people already staying in Mysore for work, a wedding or a family visit who decide midway to add a day of sightseeing. You do not need to have booked in advance from your home city, we can arrange the cab and route the same day, subject to vehicle availability during peak Dasara dates.

It can be, as long as the day is planned around them rather than around fitting in every event. We usually suggest the 2 Days 1 Night package for families with kids or older parents, since it spreads the walking and the crowd exposure across two calmer days instead of one packed one.

Demand is higher, so it is honest to say vehicles get booked out faster and last-minute bookings cost more than booking two to three weeks ahead. Our per-kilometre rates stay the same as listed above; what changes is availability, which is why we keep saying: book early for Dasara, not the week of.

A single day covers the Palace and Chamundi Hill comfortably. If you want the illumination, the Dasara Exhibition and some breathing room around the procession, two to three days works far better than trying to compress everything into one rushed evening.
